The Battlefield by thefreshdoodle The Battlefield by thefreshdoodle
Commissioned work: Samus Aran, Metroid vs Link, Legend of Zelda

Doesn't this scenario remind you of Nintendo's popular game Super Smash Brothers? I've been playing this game non-stop on my N64 during my younger years and I've never imagined myself doing a piece like this until someone commissioned me to do so. =D

I consider this one of my best works for a number of reasons; 1. it's the first time I've actually done a fight scene since I started the Fresh Doodle, 2. Never thought my style would pull off mechanical suits and 3. my anatomy skills have been once again put to a test!

Enjoy guys, definitely a refreshing piece to look at! ^_^

I shall tell you this before I rattle off, I dislike watercolors, it's not ones of my favorite. People seem to get it wrong all the time so it's put your painting in a VERY bad spotlight. When I critique, especially games, I look into the details. Now, I'm not sure if you are worried(I would be if it was MY artwork on the line) but you shouldn't be. When I saw this it came alive! You have every single detail correct! All the way down the foot positions, when a alien pounces on Samus, one foot goes back while the other stays in place, thus canceling any weakness about her. One foot back means she can easily retreat, but also be jolted backwards from a missile attack and even push herself off from that foot to launch herself into her opponents face. Links "falling foot" is perfectly acurate to game specks. You are amazing. Nothing less than amazing, I will be looking into more of your artwork, because I am loving what I see: non-erotic game pictures, that and your technique finished this picture off wit a blinding blow, I tip my hat to you, genius.

oh why world //shot

Amazing artwork! This piece definitely speaks out action-- very intense! It definitely makes me wonder who would win... but I guess we have Super Smash Bros. for that >: D

Link's magic is his biggest advantage I think, without it, he wouldn't be too difficult for Samus to deal with. That said, her suit is, in a way, magic as well. It's basically a physical manifestation of her will, and the perfect blend of tech and magic in a way (don't ask me, it's Chozo logic!) But with all her weapons and abilities, speed, overwhelming firepower, and super strength, not to mention the ridiculous amount of punishment she can take, I just don't see Link winning. I don't think he'd be easy with his magic, but I lean towards Samus all the way.

ANYWAYS, now that I threw my two cents in (you asked for it! =P), I think you made a fantastic piece here. It has excellent posing and effects, nice shading and lighting, and a bit of a gritty feel. Nice work! :D
