Although your title and text places the piece in context, my first thought was that she was welcoming rain after a long drought. The half-disc of white suggests the hot sun of a midday Summer sky, and the sandy orange suggests dusty dry adobe. The brushstrokes of black spoke of mud joyously kicked up by dancing feet, and the ink speckles told of the admixture of rain and dust.
It reminded me of growing up in the dry foothills of the Rockies, and running out into the yard, dry grass crunching underfoot, and spinning in the raindrops of a brief sunshower. There is a word for the smell of rain on dry earth, petrichor, or something like that, and I have to say that there is something sanctified in the experience of that smell.
