Common Ground by thefreshdoodle Common Ground by thefreshdoodle
As mentioned in my previous submission, this is a Full View of a newly improved version of an old piece way back in 2008, 'Frevolution' as I call it.

I'm no expert in Japanese culture and I don't what the hell I was smoking while drawing this piece years back. I honestly have no clue if tigers and geishas in a painting makes sense at all lol! But I do believe both are known to entertain, not all tigers though, but you get what I'm saying. :D A common ground.

To learn more about this piece visit [link] . Or you can just browse through my Featured Gallery, you will find my frevolution thumbnails. :)

I am really drawn to the colours and textures in this piece. I always love to see artists mix cool and warm tones together.

I also particularly like the quickness of the strokes, espeically on the tigers back. It makes it seem as if the moment had to be captured fast before it disapeared before your eyes which is really stunning. It adds a rushed elegance to the piece in some areas. When I see this, I see a painter who was doing a portrait of a woman playing, when suddenly the artist spied upon a tiger and furiously rushed to get it down as to not loose it. I highly doubt that's what happened to you. However what I'm trying to get across is that this tells a story, and it has be so exotically executed. Great work.

This re-work is very interesting as you changed a few elements that deeply change the impact of the piece. This quickness of strokes and the colors render a wild, rushing feel. The strokes add also a wonderful texture and depth to the piece.

With the angle of the face and change of not only the tiger's position but the position of the face, adds to a quality of what reminds me of a spirit animal. It ties these two together. This one is not as calming and "elegant" as the other piece. Don't get me wrong, it's great! While you have two similar pieces, you have also made a whole new piece that is equally wonderful if not more intriguing. I think this piece represents a "maturity" in your development.

Common ground, I think as a title, is better executed in this piece than the other.

This is utterly exquisite. The loose brushstrokes lend a vibrancy and living, breathing quality to the piece that is just phenomenal...
